Not Just for Business: Mastering Workflow Processes for Efficiency

Daily writing prompt
What topics do you like to discuss?

I was flipping through the prompts from WordPress, feeling uninspired. I don’t like any of them. I was going to give up and just write about a topic of my choice, when this came up. Talk about opportune timing!

So, I think I am going to talk about workflow processes. Sounds so exciting, right?! If you said yes in a sarcastic tone, it is understandable. Unless you enjoy business as much as I do, I’m more than sure you would find it boring.

Know what isn’t boring?

A smooth, profitable workflow that just works like it should. I’m obsessed with defeating bottlenecks and creating flow processes that work without a hitch. I do it in my daily life!

Start with a counter full of dishes.

Everything is haphazard and in need of attention. I need to wash the dishes using the most efficient method for productivity and time management. What do I do?

I start by organizing the dishes by size. Large pots? They are filled with all the small incidentals, like utensils. Those are filled with lots of hot water and dish soap.

Moving on to small dishware, like the undersized bowls and side plates, I arrange them in the sink. At the same time, I am adding dishwater, too.

On the counter, I would create a section just for cups. Medium dinner bowls and dinner plates are sorted for easy cleaning when it is their turn.

Washing begins with the pot of silverware, and any other pans earlier filled with hot dish water. I do this on the rinse side of the sink while small plates and bowls are soaking.

Removing the big items and all the incidentals somehow feels satisfying. It is like I was looking at a skyscraper. Yet, once done, it is simply a 3-bedroom, one-level home. It relieves some of the anxiety of the backup, making it feel easily managed.

Think: Production Process & Bottleneck Relief

The dishes are an example of building a process within production. The act of removing large hurdles for cleaner processing is the same concept used in bottleneck reduction.

This is just one example, of course. Yet, this concept applies far beyond the workflow analysis and process creation used in business.

My brain naturally looks for the best approach for smooth processing in everything I do. This structure is just one reason why I love business so much!

In reality, if you can create a workflow in your home, then you can use the same method in your business. It simply takes patience and planning to find the most efficient path for greater time management. This turns into profitability through production for the business crowd.

How do you create workflow processes in your life?

I hope this piece inspires you to analyze your daily steps toward efficiency. Whether it is your job or walking through the grocery store while shopping. Think about how you flow, avoid entanglements, and manage your time to your advantage.

Does your process need a little tweaking to avoid bottlenecks, too?
