And then I was grateful for my insightful nature…

Gratitude Jar 2025 for April 27th

I am grateful I have the emotional awareness to see the impact actions have on others.

Yesterday, I had a moment that encompassed this. This morning, I had another moment that reminded me of this again.

So, I felt it was the perfect gratitude for today.

Yesterday, I took my boyfriend to meet my mom’s best friend and the woman who has known me since preschool. She is an amazing lady. She is the closest he will get to meeting my parents.

I told her that, and she was beyond flattered. I wasn’t trying to cause an emotional reaction, even one that good. It was simply a genuine show of affection.

This morning, I was explaining why I went to bed early and how our roommate was bothering me. I said that he was so excited that my boyfriend was doing a project with him. I didn’t feel good, though. I wasn’t trying to dampen his excitement, so I went to bed.

What my boyfriend heard was:

He was so excited to spend time with you!

So my lovely partner started asking me questions because he hadn’t realized the effect it had. It mattered to him that the time on the project mattered to his friend.

From there, I suggested that he spend more time with his best friend. This improves their connection and his quality of life.

Sometimes I simply forget my insight isn’t the norm. I see things in a way others do not, using mindfulness. It is a strength I admire. What is your superpower?
