And then I was grateful for the right antibiotic to improve my health…

Gratitude Jar 2025 for April 29th

I am grateful my doc saw me last minute & got me an antibiotic!

Starting last week, I started feeling really sick. I couldn’t figure out why. I didn’t have any noticeable drainage from my sinuses. Yet, I started getting more fatigued and started suffering from brain fog.

Well, I got awful over the weekend, starting late Friday evening. My head was in constant pain, and my migraines were coming and going. I felt dehydrated, and I ended up with laryngitis.

At one point, I went to sit with my better half in his office. I closed my eyes and fell asleep while leaning back in an office chair! I heard everything around me. I just wasn’t fully awake.

By Sunday evening, I was done for. I was asking ChatGPT about my symptoms. I was wondering if I needed the ER because the world was spinning. I just knew I was not okay.

I called at open on Monday, and Nicole, a PA-C, was willing to see me. I’ve seen her for a few years, and she is passionate about patient care. She offers tough love and gentle kindness at the same time.

Even the elevator ride made my head spin.

It turns out I have a sinus infection with fluid in my right lung. She was concerned it turned to pneumonia, but we chose to start with an antibiotic first.

When I woke up this morning, my voice was back! I am clear-headed and feel almost normal. I even realized that I had been excessively dehydrated! It is amazing how awareness hits you once the brain fog lifts.

Obviously, I wasn’t septic. I still feel this uncomfortable pressure in my chest on the right side, though. Nonetheless, I am grateful that the antibiotic is working and I am improving.
