Being the odd one out isn’t a bad thing.
Really!
Most people see different as bad. In business, different is profitable!
Standing out from the crowd simply means you have something new to offer. Whether it is a widget, software, or service.
Setting yourself apart matters.

You’re not reaching your full potential if you place yourself as a carbon copy of an existing company. You’re simply riding the coattails of a pioneer when you should be a pioneer yourself.
If you think about it, the public loves to purchase from brands they know and trust. If you’re new to an industry and do not offer any value beyond your competition, why would they choose you?
Pioneering does not always mean donning a clown outfit and advertising yourself as odd. Sometimes, it simply means creating a process that makes your option more affordable. Are you capable of undercutting competitive costs thanks to your operational strategy?
You just took a risk for success.
How many times have you heard:
One person cannot change the world, but you can change the world for one person.
Factually speaking, that is precisely what you are doing with your business when you take that risky leap. You are changing the world for yourself. You are strategizing for personal success.
You’re also changing the world by risking yourself to show your customers that you’re the new leader of your industry.
Not all superheroes wear capes. Sometimes it is a dramatic outfit.
The real question is:
Have you taken the risk for success, or are you on the coattails of a different pioneer?
Keep that in mind as you start or scale your business. In the business world, differences have value.
