Now that you fully understand the intent of today’s post, let’s discuss goal-setting. After all, you are already SMART in life. You need to extend that into your business!

SMART goal-setting

Goal-Setting Matters

It is easy to stall in business. You can stay busy without ever going anywhere. Think of every phone call or troubleshooting session. You’re taking care of the now, but not the future.

If you don’t aim upward, you will have no future. You need to set a goal. A SMART goal can place you on the right path.

Furthermore, you need to actively work toward that future.

Before you read another word, open up your favorite document application and create a SMART goal.

If you want a template, here is a PDF printable from the University of San Diego.

I first learned about SMART goals through my time in therapy. I can attest to the effectiveness of the strategy.

I can also attest to the power behind them. They often turn into propelling events.

Propelling Events

Propelling events are as they sound. These are moments in your business that push you to the next level.

Once you’ve created a long-term goal, as well as four or five short-term goals, you’ve just started. Next is celebrating the milestone moments. During this process you’ll see something within yourself:

  • More self-confidence
  • Finding your stage
  • Manageable achievements
  • Progression in your professional well-being

Suddenly, that feeling of “belonging in the room” becomes real. You have the backing to support your business endeavors. You’ll find yourself moving upward, not just forward.

Think about it. You can move straight ahead, no incline, without ever getting anywhere. Grasping that goal is similar to grabbing a ladder. Now you’re moving up to the next level. Your business just became a 3D environment!

You’re being propelled. Congratulations!

If reading this is your propelling moment, I’m grateful. Success doesn’t belong to just one of us. It belongs to everyone.

I want to see you move forward and upward to success!
