The friction of a sharpening stone sharpens knives. The friction of adversity sharpens our business skills.

I have mentioned this before and will again: You do not fail unless you stop trying. You see, there is something to learn in the adversity of failure!

Those lessons can drive you to greater and better things.

We recently discussed one of the founders of Military.com in class this week. I suspected that the greatest lesson he learned was through the adversity he faced when the business started to fail.

I found a piece written about him where he even reflected the same sentiment. He felt that the lessons learned through adversity were crucial. They drove him to be a better entrepreneur and CEO as he moved forward.

I want you to remember this. In the moment, those skill-sharpening moments feel devastating. They are not.

They’re teaching you to be a better entrepreneur and CEO.
