Gratitude Jar for February 26th, 2025

I am grateful my car issues yesterday were minor. I am also grateful the office of the doctor I was seeing was accommodating with my car issue!

I was nervous enough about my appointment with the bariatric surgeon yesterday without my car overheating twice during the trip, ending up with me in the parking lot of a local business waiting for help.

A special shoutout to my family for being there on the fly. B was quick to get me more fluid and see if we could get my car to hold the fluid in the reservoir or if I needed repairs. When it wasn’t holding properly, she brought me home. Then my better half left work early to get my car and take it to a shop.

Shoutout to Oriole Automotive for taking the time to look into it the same day. I appreciate you for accommodating me in your schedule. Another to KB Mechanical for willingly letting my car stay in the lot of your new location while I worked on a resolution to my problem. You both went above and beyond in kindness and made the whole situation a little easier on me.

My car is fine now. I’m not 100% sure of what happened, but it is rectified and it will live to see another day.

    So happy your car is all good. :) Life throws us the wildest curveballs sometimes, but the important thing – is that we get through them with laughter and a sense of humor.

      Thank you! ♡ Lately it has been feeling a bit like life is toying with me but, in the end, I am doing really well at handling everything. It is a marked improvement from just a few short years ago. I fully agree, sometimes it just takes a laugh and a smile then we can all keep moving forward! ♡

        I am so proud of you for doing all you can as well to keep going. Have you ever heard the song “Ironic” by Alanis Morissette? In the song, she says, “Life has funny way of sneaking up on you when you think everything is okay and everything is going right, and life has a funny way of helping you out when you think everything’s going wrong and everything blows up in your face?”. Life totally always works itself out for us in the end – no matter what!

        I definitely go through life with humor, no matter what happens, because if you don’t laugh at it sometimes, it will drive you crazy. :)

          Thank you! ♡ I swear, life is ironic, lol. I use humor to deflect a lot. It is because humor helps me cope. I inherited sarcasm and a weird sense of humor from my father.

          That is actually one of the songs I really liked as a kid! I had to listen to it again because it had been a while. You’re right about the lyrics applying to daily life at times. 😂 That is a very good comparison and factual!

            That’s why we get along so well! :) I’m totally humorous (or try to be!) – and I have a weird sense of humor / sarcastic as well.
            AND – My dad was the same way. Sometimes, I couldn’t help but laugh at his sarcasm and humor.

            I always say if you can’t find the humor in tough or bad situations, you’re going to lose your mind. :)

            LOL, that is awesome! My dad was the king of dad jokes. To this day, I still love a good dad joke. Sometimes, when I am really upset, I will come up with some very creative insults about the situation that just simply make me laugh. I am very good at using language to make some of the most descriptive/original phrases to relieve the stress of the moment.

            I fully agree. Without humor to lighten the moment, I would be a very angry person all of the time. 😂

            Your last line – YOU AND ME BOTH. lol. Without humor, I’d be an angry little elf. I like to lighten the mood with jokes and humor for those reasons.
            Life is insane sometimes, and we have to laugh at it.
            My dad was good at jokes and even if I was mad at him sometimes, there were times he cracked a smartass joke, and I couldn’t help but laugh.
            Those are the times we have to remember as well.

            After my high school graduation, I went with my dad and that side of the family to visit for a little bit. He told me, before going into a store, to just take off the graduation gown. I told him I was wearing a dress with short sleeves and I didn’t shave my armpits because I didn’t expect to take it off. His response was simple, “Neither did I.” 😂

            My mother was so sarcastic and witty at times and I, to lighten the mood when I am angry over someone or a situation, will create some of the most descriptive, invective phrases you can imagine. Do I say them to the people they might refer? No. I just love finding unique ways to insult someone or something in my head if I am especially stressed because it makes me laugh a ton. My mom was good at finding a creative insult to lighten a bad moment. I’ve told my therapist some of them that I have created and she just goes, “Well, that was very… detailed.” 🤣

            The graduation dress comment was too cute! lol
            I think during times we miss our parents, or others – we absolutely have to think about the good times, the funny memories and laugh.
            Of course, it’s okay to cry and be angry, etc. but when I think about my oldest now – I always giggle at something Jordan did, or said, etc. and same goes for my parents who are no longer here.
            I love your sense of humor about things, and I hope you always continue that. <3
