What is your middle name? Does it carry any special meaning/significance?

Details

My middle name is Ja’net. Yes, that is what the J stands for in my name on this blog. I enjoy the unique aspect of my middle name. It is spelled like this on my birth certificate.

But the government doesn’t support the accent.

This is where the problem lies. Everyone thinks my middle name is Janet because the government would not include that stupid little mark. Rather than pronouncing it as jSHA-net, everyone who says my middle name calls me jan-net.

Janet was my Grandmother’s name.

My mom wanted to include a little of my grandma in my name when she named me, but she didn’t want to use Janet directly. So she kept the spelling and included the accent to make it slightly varied.

I love the creativity. It is a great middle name. I just wish the government would recognize the accent mark so I wouldn’t have to explain to people how it is really pronounced all of the time.
