I was in the middle of responding to the writing prompt posted previous to this entry when I started having full-blown monitor connection issues.

I knew the HDMI had an end that was slightly broken, although it was still working. So, I tried changing the cable… twice. On a whim, I decided to plug the monitor directly into my laptop instead of the port dock that I use and, abracadabra, the connection was working again.

It seems, despite having a bad end on the HDMI, the plug on the dock does not function anymore. 😓

When my personal guru, known as my better half, gets home, he will see if he can resolve the issue. All the same, I still troubleshooted the problem. 🙌🏻

I am smart and capable at a lot of things, but computer repair is not one of my base skills. This is when I am most grateful for my dorky boyfriend.

I can do computer repair to an extent, and then – it’s up to the professionals lol. I hope it all worked out.

  My monitor is working again, but I think the HDMI port in my dock is broken. My boyfriend does tech support and builds computers for a living. He also owned a computer repair business for around 10 years. I defer anything above my knowledge level to him. 😂 I’ll know more tonight, after he has had a chance to take a look at the dock and see if there is anything he can do.
  
  I was thinking about you the other day. We ended up with 2 young boys in the house temporarily and it made me wonder if you had your nephews this week or if it is still coming up. Extra kids, whew, lol.

    Did the boyfriend get the computer situation figured out?
    I did have my nephews this week, since Sunday.
    
    I just replied to the other comment. lol
    COUNTING DOWN THE HOURS AND MINUTES until my brother comes up to get them. lol
    
    I’m taking them site-seeing tonight and to get some photos taken.

      No, he hasn’t had a chance to look at my dock and see what is wrong. In his defense, we have been busy and it isn’t an emergency. I did remind him about it yesterday and he thought I had said it was the cable. I explained that the cable was broken but it wasn’t the cable that stopped working, but the port on the dock did. So he should look at it this week, I think.
