And then Week Two of Angela’s Journey came to be…

Week 2 Weight: 492 lbs | +4 lbs total

Now the Discussion

So, let me start this by explaining that I am dealing with increased edema. For those who do not know, it is fluid retention (in my legs and feet, specifically). I am not sure why. I have been working at my computer 12+ hours a day. I suspect that is the culprit.

I learned over the years that my edema flares usually correlate with a higher weight on the scale.

Is it the sole reason for a gain? No.

I ate Chinese buffet on Saturday and Sunday. The sheer carbs count alone has always caused me to have a gain instantly after eating there. That does not help my numbers for this morning.

I did notice that the appetite suppression benefits of Zepbound wore off very quickly last week. Yet, that was the very first injection. I am aware there is an adjustment period. I took my second injection this morning.

Mindfully Eating

I think part of my problem is that I am not mindfully eating the way I should. So, this week, my goal is to mindfully eat and pay attention to the sensations I feel. I am going to do my best to eat slowly and notice when I am full. I am going to space out my meals a little more.

I know it is a journey, and it is a difficult one. I am going to keep pushing ahead! I am going to work very hard on being mindful during each meal. I am not going to press myself to eat fast during the day. I will use my protein shakes as an added bonus to my nutrition. They are not just my daytime “meal”.

Accountability

I have a friend who supports me by being an accountability partner. She listens and supports me while I discuss my struggles. She has been a huge help. I am going to do my best to remember to check in more often. I also want to make sure I ask her questions and use that advice to my advantage.

It is a hard journey, but not impossible. I will get there, one bloated foot at a time.
